The Warlu Way is said to reveal the mysteries of the Warlu ‘sea serpent’ and other Indigenous legends. Trev explores some of the most iconic destinations along this significant trail.

• The Warlu way runs north from the central-southern edge of the Pilbara out to the coast and north to the new East Pilbara Geoheritage trail.
• Pardoo Roadhouse and Tavern is located approximately 30km north of the Pardoo station turn off.
• The Warlu Way journey is 2,480km long in total.
• The cretaceous Mesas are made up of 2950-million-year-old granite. This forms the orange rock base.
• The flat cap rock on the top is estimated to be approximately 146 million years old, formed back in cretaceous times.
• The De Grey River is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and is one of the most iconic destinations along the Warlu Way.
• To aid travellers on their journey a new smartphone app is launching in May 2021 to provide GPS triggered directions and interpretative information to self-drive the Pilbara’s Warlu Way.
• The app will be free to download and doesn’t need an internet connection to work.
