History isn’t always confined to books. Museums play a really important role in preserving history so we always have a real, tangible connection with our past.
- Bill Leonard is a shipwright by trade, specializing in the construction of wooden vessels.
- Building two replicas of the two most important ships in Australian history, the Captain James Cook’s HMS Endeavour, which landed in Botany Bay in 1770, followed by the Dutch ship Duyfken, which was the first European ship to have come to Australia in 1606.
- For the next 8 years at least, it’s calling WA home, it’s more than a museum piece, it’s like a time machine that allows you to actually experience history.
