Whiteman Park is a gorgeous spot and so close to the city, a natural asset that we all should be exploring and enjoying. But did you know that nearly half the park is retained for wildlife conservation?
- Whiteman Park provides a protected habitat for a wealth of plant and animal species.
- Whiteman Park sits atop the Gnangara water mound, a deep aquifer responsible for a lot of Perth’s water supply so its protected, and this means the Banksia Woodlands here are an important habitat.
- There are over 110 bird species known to reside here so bring your binoculars, it’s a bird lovers paradise!
- Much of the birdlife is here because of the 400 or so wildflower and plant species, and you will see them in flower pretty much all year round; it’s that regular supply of nectar, fruits and seeds that support the populations of birds and other animals so well.
- Whiteman Park is located only 25 minutes from the Perth CBD!
