Karijini Eco Resort

Episode: 1
Broadcast: 11 October
Presenter: Tod

Here in Western Australia, our roads can take us to amazing places, this road trip starts in Tom Price and down the road awaits a place full of colour, full of water and full of wonder, it is called Karijini.

  • There’s a lot to explore within the boundaries of Karijini National Park, so setting side a couple of days is a good idea.
  • There are a couple of designated camping areas to choose from and you can do so in style at the Karijini Eco Retreat, about an hour’s drive from Tom Price. A four wheel drive is not essential to reaching this destination, there’s even a bus service from Perth if you don’t have a car.
  • The Eco Retreat is owned and run by the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation, which is made up by the three language groups, who are the traditional owners of Karijini.
  • If you want to stay at Karijini you have a variety of options depending on whatever you feel like, if you want a more comfortable setting you may use one of the deluxe eco retreats that come with a full on suite, right down to the standard ‘pitch your tent’ natural setting.
  • A new feature that is about to open at the Eco Retreat, coming with new tours starting at 2015 that will give visitors, both nationally and internationally, insight and connection to this land and its people.
