Airdate: 22nd September 2019
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Margaret River is famous for its incredible wines, food and relaxed lifestyle, and the Walk, Talk, Taste Tour is a fantastic way to discover the area.
- The tour takes you on a walk-through Margaret River, giving visitors the chance to check out some nature, learn some history and eat some delicious food from the Margaret River Region.
- The tour starts on the banks of the Margaret River at The Hairy Marron, with a coffee and a tasty biscotti. Local baker Claudio moved to the area from Rome 11 years ago, and is able to make 170 types of biscotti from all 20 regions of Italy.
- The Hairy Marron is the hub of the popular mountain biking scene, renting and servicing bikes, as well as being the start of many popular trails.
- Margaret River was once known as a dairy enclave only before it opened up to food, wine and tourism, and is still regarded as one of the best places in the country for its dairy produce.
- The Margaret River Collaborative features local wine and cheese tastings, focusing on representing local produce such as cheeses from Nannup and Yallingup.
- The Settler’s Tavern offers slow cooked marron, paired with fine local wines. The marron is not part of the standard menu, and is a tour exclusive.
- The wine cellar features 600 incredible wines, and the tour stops by the cellar to check them all out.
