The Mount Frankland Wilderness Lookout is the final component in the development of visitor facilities in Mount Frankland National Park.
Visitors to Mount Frankland, of all abilities, can now view a vast part of the Walpole Wilderness including one of two core areas that are to be formally reserved as wilderness areas.
Access to the amazing view was previously only available to visitors who were physically able to climb to the top of Mount Frankland via a path that included stairs and a ladder.
The lookout adds value to the existing tourism focus of the lower south-west region of WA and will become as well-known as other tourist “walks” in the region such as the Tree Top Walk and the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife designed and constructed the lookout.
Mount Frankland National Park receives around 10,000 visits per year. The hope is that this will increase as people with restricted mobility come to enjoy the panoramic views from the top of Mount Frankland.
