- The Dogs' Refuge Home is one of Australia's oldest animal welfare organisations, founded in October 1935. 90 years later, it continues to rescue and rehome over 1,000 dogs annually, making it a vital part of the Western Australian community.
- The shelter is located at 30 Lemnos Street, Shenton Park, and operates daily from 11 AM to 4 PM, excluding some public holidays. Visitors can meet adoptable dogs and learn more about the adoption process during these hours.
- DRH adheres to a Pro-Life Policy enshrined in its Constitution, ensuring that all dogs are treated with compassion and respect. This policy reflects the organisation's commitment to the well-being of animals and responsible pet ownership.
- The shelter's adoption philosophy includes considerations such as the compatibility of dogs with other pets and children. For instance, female dogs are rarely re-homed into homes with other female dogs due to potential hormonal influences on behaviour.
- DRH relies heavily on the generosity of the community to continue its rescue work. The organisation encourages fundraising, donations, and volunteering to support its mission of giving dogs a new beginning.
