Kelly explores what's new in one of Perth’s most iconic locations, Elizabeth Quay!
- Elizabeth Quay is a vibrant waterfront development in the heart of Perth, situated along the Swan River. It was officially opened in 2016 and serves as a dynamic public space featuring promenades, open spaces, public art, and a range of bars and restaurants. The development aims to reconnect the city with its riverfront, offering both locals and visitors a place to relax and enjoy the scenic views.
- The precinct is renowned for its striking public art pieces. One of the most notable sculptures is Spanda, a 29-meter-tall structure located at the entrance to the pedestrian bridge. Designed to represent the ripples created by the movement of water, Spanda is illuminated at night, providing a stunning visual display.
- Elizabeth Quay is easily accessible via various modes of transportation. The Elizabeth Quay Train Station and Bus port is located directly across the road from the precinct, approximately 400 meters from Barrack Street Jetty. Additionally, the area is well-served by public ferries, including services provided by the Little Ferry Co, which connect Elizabeth Quay with other parts of the city.
- DevelopmentWA was formed through the merger of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and Landcorp, consolidating the State Government's land development functions into a single agency.
- The agency manages a wide range of projects across Western Australia, including residential, industrial, and commercial developments. Notable projects include Elizabeth Quay, Subi East, and the Bentley Redevelopment Project.
- DevelopmentWA is committed to sustainable development practices. For instance, the OneOneFive Hamilton Hill project has been recognised as a Waterwise Platinum development and awarded the maximum 6 leaves under the Urban Development Institute of Australia's EnviroDevelopment program.
