Story: Bruce Rock
Airdate: 1st September, 2019
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane

Trevor introduces us to Bruce Rock, a pretty little town and perfect for an overnight stopover.

  • Bruce rock is 249km east of Perth. It is a pretty little town in the heart of our Wheatbelt positioned on a couple of tourist drives including the Wheatbelt Way and the Granite Way. It is the perfect destination to stop over for the night and explore.
  • If you want to save money, the Bruce Rock Council has created a free campsite just outside of town with fantastic facilities including shaded campsites, a camp kitchen, and all the mod cons.
  • Once you’ve set up and met the locals get your walking shoes on and explore. There’s wildflowers and walking trails around the camp. Or jump in the car to see the reason this is such a popular destination.
  • One of the regions biggest draw cards is. Kokerbin Rock is the third largest monolith in Australia, a granite outcroft jutting from the surrounding bushland.
  • From the top you will find panoramic views, and around the base there is a well-maintained path that takes you past the Wave Wall and Devil’s Marbles.
  • If you time it right the wildflowers will be in full bloom and you can spend some serious time soaking up the serenity, before heading back to the camp site all without spending an arm and a leg. And its all thanks to the lovely people at the shire of Bruce Rock.
  • This is just one of the travel ideas from our State’s Local Councils. For more information check out
