No trip to Perth is complete without making at least a half day trip to the bustling port and historic metropolis, Fremantle.

  • Steeped in maritime, indigenous, and migrant history, Fremantle was the harbour where many of our ancestors dreaming of a better life arrived.
  • The grand gold era buildings are a testimony of their struggles toils and success, and you will be humbled and can only admire their great fortitude, determination and imagination.
  • Fremantle is the Gateway to our City and has a Soul all of its own.
  • To discover Fremantle, a great place to start is in the heart of Freo at its most historical and important building and one of its most visited, the Fremantle Markets.
  • This building is one of only two surviving municipal market buildings in Western Australia, and one of the few in the country that continues to be used for its original purpose.
  • Established in 1897 traders and visitors would arrive by horse and cart, though today there are more than 150 stalls selling everything from the State’s best fresh produce, to art, to quirky bits and bobs that make great stocking fillers or souvenirs.
  • Why not make the most of your day and start early with breakfast, in the Moore and Moore building you can grab a fantastic breakfast and they have been serving now for more than 10 years.
  • The Moore and Moore building is heritage listed and was an old Merchant warehouse.
  • Take a stroll down the Cappuccino Strip, set with classic Victorian Architecture of the area and grab a coffee by day or head to one of the many bars and restaurants in the evening for dinner.
  • Fremantle is full of great independent designer outlets all creating one off special pieces.
  • Round your day off at the Fishing boat Harbour, visit the Bon Scott statue and treat yourself to some of Perth’s best Fish and Chips.
  • Soak it all up, because this is what Fremantle is all about.
