The Brand Highway is a 370km stretch of road that links Perth to Geraldton. Chrissy and Trevor take a slight detour off the main road and explore the hidden gems of Dongara and Port Denison.

  • South Beach just off Port Denison is famous for its ice-cream van that pulls up to the beach each morning.
  • Illegal Rum Tender set up in Port Denison just 18 months ago and has won 8 world spirit awards in that time. The rum is incredibly unique and is made up with 5 different bush tucker botanicals. Before you stop in for a purchase be sure to book a brewery tour.
  • Another great place to stop on the detour is Port Denison’s harbor, just 10 minutes down the road, is best viewed from the Fisherman’s memorial. It is a great view!
  • The Dongara and Port Denison region is filled with history. You can take a walk along the beach path there are some metal silhouettes of soldiers as a visual memorial to the ANZACs. You can also visit Russ Cottage, which is run by a group of passionate volunteers. It is a great way to have an insight into early life living in Dongara and Port Denison
  • Just 10 minutes along, you reach Dongara and take a gorgeous drive through the Morton Bay Fig Trees, planted in 1906 by Robert Russ, the owner of Russ Cottage.
  • Dongara is also a great place to visit for an old fashioned drive in, you can also get some fish and chips to enjoy while you watch the film!
