Title: RAC Roadside Safety: Breakdown Tips
Broadcast: 4th February 2018
Presenter: Chrissy Morrissy

If you’re planning a road trip, make sure your car service is up to date, and also do a few checks on your fuel, water and tire pressure before you set off.

  • If you do experience car troubles while on the road, there are a few tips to remember: Pull over a safe distance from the road, as far left as possible and put on your hazard lights.
  • Only get out of your car if it is safe. If it’s not safe, stay in the car with the hazard lights and your seat belt on. If it is safe, get out the car and out of the way of traffic.
  • When out of the vehicle, get behind a safety barrier and call the RAC from your mobile. If your mobile battery is flat, use a roadside phone if it’s available, being sure face oncoming traffic as you approach it.
