Tracy Vo takes part in the annual Run for a Reason event and talks with some of the many runners to find out what they’re running for.
- HBF Run for a Reason is Western Australia’s largest annual community fitness and fundraising event, attracting tens of thousands of participants each year.
- The event first launched in 2010 and has become a major fixture on Perth’s sporting and tourism calendar.
- Participants can choose from multiple distances including a 3km community course, a 12km run and a half marathon through the city.
- The courses take runners through the heart of Perth, including landmarks such as the Northbridge Tunnel, the Swan River foreshore and Mounts Bay Road.
- The event raises millions of dollars for charities and community organisations, with more than $14 million raised across its history for over 350 charities.
- HBF promotes the event as open to all fitness levels, with people encouraged to run, walk or wheel the course.
- The start line is located at the corner of Hay Street and William Street in Perth CBD, while the finish festival takes place at Gloucester Park in East Perth.
- Race day includes live entertainment, recovery zones, food vendors, family activities and free public transport for registered participants wearing event bibs.
