Story: The Perth Mint – Curated for Christmas
Episode: 1
Presenter: Nikki Parkinson
Air Date: 30 November 2025

Nikki takes a trip to The Perth Mint and learns why it is the perfect place for a golden day out with the family this festive season.

  • The Perth Mint building in East Perth is over 125 years old and is Australia’s largest fully integrated precious metals facility, providing gold, silver and platinum products and services to markets worldwide.
  • It’s the world’s only precious metal enterprise that’s government-owned and guaranteed.
  • The mint has a range of curated gifts including decorations, stocking fillers, jewellery and collectible coins.
  • The Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin won the title of the ‘largest coin’ in the world by the Guiness World Records in 2012. Its dimensions are approximately 80cm by 13cm and is valued over $200 million AUD.
  • Upgrades to the Melting House mean that visitors can now watch gold bars being poured right before their eyes.
  • The mint will also be hosting Gold Santa every Friday and Saturday in December leading up to Christmas with free professional digital photos by the fireplace.
