Story: Tracks of Time
Episode: 8
Presenter: Nikki Parkinson
Air Date: 23 March 2025
Nikki goes back to a simpler time taking a trip on Whiteman Parks Heritage Tram.
- The Perth Electric Tramway Society operates a 4-kilometre heritage tram service through picnic areas and farmland, offering a nostalgic experience with the "clickety-clack" of tram travel.
- Passengers purchase tickets from the tram conductor on board and receive a heritage-style ticket before alighting at various stops, with the chance to spot kangaroos and cattle along the way.
- The tram follows a one-directional route starting at the Visitor Information Centre, traveling to Mussel Pool West Stop and Pia's Place, before returning to complete the loop in about 40 minutes.
- The tram is operated by volunteers, with extended running times on weekends, public, and school holidays.
- If traveling via the new Morley-Ellenbrook train line, you can catch the heritage electric trams to the Village on operating days, with the first tram leaving Whiteman Park Station at 11:10am (except during fire bans or extreme heat).
