Trevor takes a day to experience the history of the Great South, both pre-settlement and modern.
- The Museum of the Great Southern precinct overlooks picturesque Mamang Koort / Princess Royal Harbour on the site of the first European permanent settlement in Western Australia (1826)
- The Museum provides exhibitions, public programs, educational programs and information on the unique natural and social history of the region, sharing the stories of the Menang Noongar people and the influence of Mokare, an intermediary who assisted European explorers in an unfamiliar environment.
- Home to incredible travelling exhibitions from around Australia and the world, the next one coming up is Bush Mechanics, a showcase of the ingenuity of outback mechanics whose clever resourcefulness turned branches, spinifex and sand into tools and spare parts to get cars back on the road. Based on the ABC series.
- One of the most popular exhibits at the museum is the replica of the Brig Amity. The full-sized replica was built in the 1970s to commemorate the 150-year anniversary of European settlement in Albany.
- The Museum’s shop has a great range of souvenirs, gifts and educational items suited to all ages and interests.
