Nikki experiences the all-new Australind rail service and discovers how the next generation of trains is making travel between Perth and Bunbury more comfortable, accessible and convenient than ever before.

• The Australind connects Perth with Bunbury, providing a scenic rail journey to one of Western Australia's most popular South West destinations.
• An all-new fleet of modern Australind railcars began entering service in June 2026, replacing the previous fleet that had operated since 1987.
• The new three-car trains feature contemporary interiors, improved accessibility, in-seat USB charging, dedicated bicycle storage, generous luggage areas and an onboard buffet.
• The popular ham and cheese toastie has returned to the onboard café, continuing one of the Australind's best-loved traditions.
• Additional railcars will progressively enter service, with services expected to increase to four return journeys each day from early 2027, improving flexibility for commuters and visitors.
• Each train showcases unique Aboriginal artwork by a Western Australian Indigenous artist and carries a community-selected name celebrating the culture, history and landscapes of the South West.
• The new railcars were designed and built in Western Australia, supporting local manufacturing, skilled employment and the state's rail industry.
• The upgraded Australind makes it easier than ever to enjoy a day trip or extended getaway to Bunbury and the South West, leaving the car behind and travelling in comfort.
