Beyond its famous red crabs and marine life, Christmas Island is home to a string of hidden beaches, rainforest trails, and scenic picnic spots. From the secluded beauty of Dolly and Ethel Beach to the family-friendly charm of Lily Beach, offering a paradise for those willing to explore off the beaten path.

  • Dolly Beach is one of the island’s most stunning and secluded beaches, accessible via a 2km hike through lush rainforest, and known for its white sands, rock pools, and overhanging coconut palms.
  • Ethel Beach, located on the eastern side of the island, is just a short walk from the track and is often completely empty making it a peaceful escape surrounded by dense tropical foliage.
  • Lily Beach features a keyhole-shaped cove with gazebos, BBQ facilities, and a natural rock pool that's ideal for young children during low tide.
  • Many of Christmas Island’s beaches, like Flying Fish Cove, are easily accessible, while others require effort to reach rewarding visitors with private, pristine settings rarely shared with others.
  • The Christmas Island Tourism Association (CITA), established in 1996, operates from the Visitor Information Centre and works to promote tourism across the island.
  • CITA has completed the "Strive for Sustainability Scorecard," highlighting its commitment to advancing sustainable tourism on the island.
