Tracy Vo spends the morning celebrating the achievements of all the West Aussies running in HBF’s Run for a Reason.

  • The HBF Run for a Reason is Perth's largest annual fitness and fundraising event, uniting tens of thousands of participants each year since 2010. In 2025, the event featured three main races.
    • Brooks Half Marathon (21 km): Starting at 6:45 AM, this race took participants through the city, including a unique opportunity to run through the Northbridge Tunnel without traffic.
    • Specsavers 12 km: Commencing at 8:10 AM, this course traversed various city streets, including Riverside Drive and Graham Farmer Freeway, before finishing at Gloucester Park.
    • 4 km Fun Run/Walk: A more accessible option for participants of all ages and abilities.
  • All races commenced at the intersection of Hay Street and William Street in the Perth CBD. Participants crossed the finish line at Gloucester Park in East Perth. The event's central location facilitated easy access for spectators and participants alike.
  • The HBF Run for a Reason is not only a fitness event but also a significant fundraising initiative. Participants have the opportunity to raise funds for various charities, including the Child Cancer Research Foundation, Arthritis WA, and the Perron Institute.
  • The event attracted a diverse group of participants, from seasoned runners to families and casual walkers. Many participants chose to run in memory or honour of loved ones, highlighting the community's spirit and support for various causes.
  • The HBF Run for a Reason is known for its vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. Participants often dress in themed costumes, and the event features entertainment along the course to keep spirits high. The finish line at Gloucester Park is a hub of celebration, with live music, food stalls, and activities for all ages.
  • The 2025 event marked a significant milestone in charitable contributions. Participants collectively raised over $1.85 million for more than 190 Western Australian charities. This achievement underscores the community's commitment to supporting various causes through fitness and fundraising.
  • The event embraced participants of all ages and abilities. Notably, the oldest participant in the 2023 event was 99 years old, highlighting the inclusive nature of the run. Whether running, walking, or wheeling, everyone had the opportunity to engage in the event and contribute to its success.
