The WA Museum’s collection of stuff is so massive it needs to be displayed in six museums across the state. Even SIX museums is not enough space to show it all! The Collection and Research Centre is home to a lot of the treasures stored here… But… There are also some pretty clever people doing some very clever things here, this place is like the Museum’s own CSI unit.
- Take Dr Mikael Siversson for instance. He’s a paleontologist in the Earth and Planetary Sciences department and he’s an expert on fish across the ages.
- For the curators of antiquities, it’s medical imaging equipment that’s sometimes needed to ID an acquisition.
- The identification of species happens in all sorts of ways and the displays that we enjoy are the end result of a lot of work that’s going on here at the WA Museum’s own CSI unit – the Collection and Research Centre.
