Story: The Races WA - Country Cup Stories in Esperance
Episode: 1
Presenter: Chrissy Morrissy
Air Date: 11th February

Chrissy is out on a day at the races in one of the most gorgeous towns in Western Australia.

  • Country racing is the spirit of local WA communities. Each regional town holds its own flare, so they’re all worthy of discovery. Come for the Races, Stay for the Sights!
  • Racing has long been a part of the Esperance community, for about 120 years running. The season commences in November and runs throughout the summer, culminating in early March with the Esperance cup.
  • Esperance Cup is the prime event, a staggering 2000m horse race with a $100,000 prize for the first horse past the post. With a lush green track and a party of fashion, it’s a day to remember!
  • A shuttle bus service departs on boxing day and race day from the town 1 hour before the first race, and 1 hour after the final race back to town, so no one gets left behind!
