Episode: 9
Presenter: Diana Hills
Air Date: 30th April 2023
Diana checks out two gems of the Southwest – community-minded pub ‘The Farm’ in Treendale, and the historic Bunbury pub ‘The Rose’.
- Last year Treendale won Best Regional Pub in Australia at the National Hospitality Awards in Sydney as well as best regional pub, best family dining and best bottle shop at the WA hospitality awards.
- ‘The Farm’ opened in 2020 and has become the centre of the Australind community as well as a popular stop-off for Perth travellers on their way down South. The venue is a community pub with a modern family-dining focus, providing reliable, high quality and down-to-earth service every day of the week.
- The Farm boasts indoor and outdoor play areas including a huge custom-built outdoor kids adventure playground, indoor and outdoor family dining spaces, a sports front bar with TAB, and a large format retail liquor store. There's an emphasis on good quality, value-for-money pub food and local and southwest craft beer and wines.
- Everything at The Farm is about community, connection, value and fun and this is reflected in all our offerings. With the locals in mind, the venue regularly hosts community events and craft days and has become a community hub.
- The Rose is Bunbury’s most iconic heritage pub. It was built in 1865 and has stood the test of time to remain the community’s favourite local.
- The Rose was the premier pub in Bunbury during its time and hosted many weddings and honeymoons over the years. There was a rail package in the 1920s and 30s where you could come down from Perth and spend the night at the Rose in the rooms upstairs.
